In-depth Buddhist Study Programs

The Kadampa Buddhist Temple offers three special study programs - the General Program, Foundation Program, and Teacher Training Program.

These programs, designed by Geshe Kelsang for the systematic study and practice of Kadampa Buddhism, are especially suited to the modern world:

The General Program (GP) is open to all. It provides an introduction to Buddhist teachings and meditations. Through these classes, we can learn how to use Buddha's advice in our daily lives to solve our problems and find the peace and happiness we seek.

This program is taught at the Kadampa Buddhist Temple by our Resident Teacher, Tessa Logan, on Tuesdays from 7:00-8:45PM.

There are also local drop-in meditation classes in the Haight, Castro and downtown San Francisco.

The Foundation Program (FP) is for those who wish to deepen their understanding and experience of Buddhism by engaging in the systematic study of five essential Buddhist texts.

Foundation Program classes are held at the Kadampa Buddhist Temple on Mondays and Thursdays, 7:00-9:00PM, and are taught by our Resident Teacher, Tessa Logan.

Click here for more information or click here for a detailed brochure of the Foundation Program.

The Teacher Training Program (TTP) is for those who wish to become qualified teachers of Kadampa Buddhism and also for those who wish to gain a clear insight into Buddha's teachings and deep experience of their practice.

It involves the study of twelve of Geshe Kelsang's books, covering both Sutra and Tantra teachings.

The TTP is taught at the Kadampa Buddhist Temple by Tessa Logan on Sundays, 7:00-8:30PM and Tuesday mornings, 7:30-9:30AM.

For more information about any of these programs, contact us.
